BE THE INSPIRATION.

WHAT IS ROTARY?

We are students, friends, families, colleagues and strangers, coming together to make the world a better place with no political or religious agenda.

We recognize the value in spending time to make good things happen. One person can make a huge difference to those around them, but our 1.2 million members can amplify it across the globe.

Rotary is represented by clubs, and every club is autonomous. There's no Big Brother governing decisions. This is one of the many benefits of Rotary - you can turn your ideas into action.

Others join Rotary to find lifelong friends, business connections or service projects. Whatever reason individuals have to join Rotary, the foundation behind it is to do it with a positive contribution to the world.

Rotary is nothing without its dedicated members implementing new ideas. We need passionate like-minded individuals to be effective. If you're still reading, then we need you.

About

WHAT IS DISTRICT 5400?

We mentioned that Rotary is made up of clubs. Well, because there are 33,000 clubs worldwide, they are grouped into what are called Zones, then further grouped within these Zones as Districts to make it easier to manage. District 5400 represents 43 clubs from Baker City, Oregon to Montpelier, Idaho and everything in between.

It's a support for clubs by awarding grants, educating on Rotary programs, helping with international efforts, building membership, managing public image and much more. It doesn't dictate what clubs do. Each club is completely different in terms of how they support their communities and what kind of culture they have at their meetings. The District is just there to help them if they need it.

HOW MUCH IS ROTARY?

Each club makes up their own due structures. There are some annual contributions to Rotary International and the District for administration and fundraising efforts (did you know we're going to eradicate Polio?). Currently District 5400 requests $44 per member annually.

E-clubs have smaller fees due to the lower overhead to host meetings. Other clubs minimize cost by not having food at their meetings or host less meetings per month. To give a conservative, unofficial estimate, club dues range from $90 to $750 per year and are generally paid quarterly or bi-annually. There's peace of mind in knowing that there are no overpaid executives running Rotary, and almost all leaders are doing it as volunteers.
